If you find out that you don’t normally exhaust your monthly data plans, instead of dashing it to MTN, you can share it with your friends. Transferring data on MTN network is very easy; of course, the recipient must be using MTN too. Just follow the steps described below:
How To Transfer Data On MTN Network
- Subscribe to a data plan
You need to have an active subscription, here are some of MTN plans you can choose from:
Get 375 MB for 30 days at N1,300 – dial *109#
Get 750 MB for 30 days at N2,000 – dial *110#
Get 1,500 MB for 30 days at N3,500 – dial *111#
Get 4,500 MB for 30 days at N6,500 – dial *129#
Get 7,500 MB for 30 days at N8,000 – dial *101#
- Register for MTN Data Share
When you have chosen one of the data bundle plans listed above, the next step is to register for MTN Data Share. To do so, simply dial *131*2*1#. Another option is to simply send the message REG to 131, after that, you will receive a unique security PIN for registration
- Change your security PIN
You will need to change the security PIN received from the first step when you enter the system. You can do so by dialing *131*2*5#. Another option for changing your old pin to a new pin is by sending the message CHANGE followed by your old pin and your new pin to 131, for instance, “CHANGE 1234 6262”, where “1234” is your old PIN and “6262” is your new Pin for Data share.
- Add Beneficiaries
After changing your pin, the next thing is to add beneficiaries to the MTN Data Share account. You can do so by using the MTN data transfer code *131*2*3#. There is also another option for you! You can always send the text message with the phone numbers of your beneficiaries to 131. According to these terms, you are a data sponsor, and they are the data beneficiaries.

Simply dial *131*2*4# to share your data with friends!
Hint
- You can add only five beneficiaries and you can always delete beneficiaries whenever you change your mind.
- Each data plan has a limit, once it’s exhausted, your friends will no longer have access.
