Super Eagles striker, Ahmed Musa’s goal against Iceland has been nominated for goal of the tournament award.
Musa’s goal was nominated for their group D World Cup match alongside 16 others for the award.
Vanguard reports that the Super Eagles striker goals against Iceland lifted Nigeria above Iceland, but it was his second goal that is up for nomination.
Musa’s effort has not gone unnoticed as his goal has been shortlisted alongside strikes from Portugal duo Cristiano Ronaldo and Ricardo Quaresma, Croatia captain and Golden Ball winner Luka Modric, Spain defender Nacho, Brazil’s Philipe Coutinho, Russia attackers Denis Cheryshev  and Artem Dzyuba for the best goal in the global football showpiece.
The forward will also battle Argentina’s Lionel Messi, Angel Di Maria, France’s Benjamin Pavard, Belgium trio of Adnan Januzaj, Dries Mertens and Nacer Chadli, England’s Jesse Lingard, Germany’s Toni Kross.
The winner will be announced after voting close on July 23 according to a statement from FIFA.
